Choose the kind of day you want
Choose one main outing using the time available after you leave the terminal, your interests and the walking your group wants to do. A port call does not need to include Ephesus, a beach and the town to be worthwhile. The options below deliberately leave something out.

Town: Pigeon Island and central landmarks
Choose town if you want landmarks, a meal and browsing without arranging an out-of-town transfer. Ege Port suggests Pigeon Island, then the Öküz Mehmet Pasha Caravanserai and Kaleiçi Mosque. If you have time for all three, visit them in that order. If not, pick one or two stops.
Make the island optional for a shorter central visit. Treat building interiors as optional too: the mosque is a place of worship, and a landmark's presence does not establish visitor access on your date. Leave shopping and a meal flexible rather than booking every part of the afternoon. This option leaves out Ephesus and a dedicated beach visit. Check where you'll leave the terminal and your ship's return instructions before setting out.
Ephesus: make archaeology the main visit
Choose Ephesus for ancient-city remains rather than a town-and-beach day. Celsus Library, Curetes Street and the Great Theatre give the visit its focus. Agree both the entrance and the collection gate with your driver or guide: the site has upper and lower entrances, so returning to whichever gate seems nearest can mean missing your pickup.
The Terrace Houses add a different perspective: Roman domestic interiors with mosaics and frescoes. They have a separate entrance within the archaeological site and separately published visiting hours. Check whether your ticket or excursion includes them before adding the stop. Coast: choose a beach or stay on the waterfront
Decide whether you want to swim or simply spend time beside the sea. A central waterfront walk with a meal is a different outing from travelling to a beach; the cruise-port waterfront is not a substitute for a chosen swimming beach. Use the beach comparison to select an exact destination and establish your return transport before leaving town.
A beach-led day leaves out the archaeological visit. Keep bathing, changing and the journey back within the time actually available, rather than treating them as spare minutes after sightseeing. If the transport arrangement does not fit, retain the waterfront-and-town option instead of squeezing in a distant beach.
Leave room for lunch rather than another destination
Use lunch and shopping as flexible stops after the part of the outing that takes you furthest from the port. A sit-down meal, sales demonstration or extra museum can change the day as much as another drive. If a tour includes these stops, check their place in the programme before booking.
For a town day, leave the choice of a meal open until you know your remaining time. For an Ephesus day, agree the return collection first; do not add Şirince or the House of the Virgin Mary simply because they appear near Ephesus on a regional map.
Choose the route your group can actually enjoy
Match the outing to the person who needs the shortest walking distances or most frequent rests. Ask about the actual surfaces, steps, toilets and vehicle access rather than accepting a general accessibility label. Removing the island from a town outing shortens the sightseeing list, but does not establish that the remaining route is step-free.
For children or mixed energy levels, make one stop optional from the start. If heat or someone's condition makes the visit uncomfortable, shorten or end it rather than trying to recover the original sightseeing list. This page is not medical advice or an assurance of route suitability.
Keep the return instructions in one place
Before leaving the port area, save the ship's all-aboard instruction, return entrance and any provider meeting details offline. Use the cruise-port overview for arrival, documents, assistance and disruption contacts; those instructions apply whichever outing you select.
Recheck your remaining time when you finish the main visit. If your pickup fails or a delay threatens the return, contact the booked provider and use the cruise line's supplied instructions. Drop the optional stops instead of building a second distant itinerary around the failed first one.
