Pamucak is a long sandy coast on the Selçuk side of the Kuşadası area, also called Ephesus Beach. Consider it for a dedicated beach outing or an optional stop on an Ephesus trip. Choose the beach section and return journey together: a general shoreline location is not the same as the entrance to a facility.

What Pamucak Beach is like
Pamucak is a broad sandy shoreline rather than a small enclosed cove. Selçuk District Governorate describes a coast extending about five kilometres, with sand reaching 80 metres wide in places. It also uses the name Efes Plajı—Ephesus Beach. These are the authority's destination descriptions, not measurements of a marked walking route.
The useful distinction for your itinerary is its Selçuk/Ephesus-side setting. İzmir Municipality places it in the direction from Ephesus towards Kuşadası. If you are staying in central Kuşadası, treat Pamucak as a separate outing, not a beach you will necessarily pass during a town walk.
Pick a specific arrival point. A map result for the whole beach, a campsite and a hotel with Pamucak in its address can lead to different entrances. If you need an operated beach section, choose that destination before arranging transport.
Which kind of beach day fits your trip?
If swimming is the main reason for going out, plan that first. If Ephesus is the priority, keep the beach optional rather than cutting the ancient-city visit short to complete a fixed list. Getting there and arranging the return
With a car, navigate to the selected entrance or operating facility, not just a pin in the middle of the shore. Confirm where visitors may park and how far the approach is from there. Do not assume a hotel's entrance provides access to its services for non-guests.
For a taxi or prearranged transfer, agree on the destination, return pickup point and whether the quote includes waiting or a separate return journey. Save the contact and location offline. If you change beach sections, update the pickup arrangement too.
For public transport, this guide has not verified a current beach-specific timetable or fare. Before relying on a dolmuş, confirm the departure point, the stop serving your chosen section and the last usable return. A service heading towards Selçuk does not by itself tell you where it will leave you relative to the beach entrance. Choose a different transport plan if those details cannot be established.
Toilets, showers, shade and costs
The district governorate's beach description mentions municipal and camping facilities, including showers, toilets, umbrellas, loungers and refreshments. That is a useful indication of the kinds of services described along the coast; the undated page does not identify which section is operating today or provide current prices.
There is therefore no basis here for promising either that every part of Pamucak has full facilities or that the entire beach has none. If toilets, changing or rented shade are important to your visit, select an operating facility that confirms them. Ask separately about any entrance, parking and equipment charges rather than assuming a single payment covers everything.
Bring water, sun protection and a way to keep wet beach items away from dry clothing. Do not leave a bag expecting storage unless a facility has specifically agreed to hold it. For an Ephesus combination, having dry footwear and a change of clothes makes the transition more comfortable.
Combining Pamucak with Ephesus
Plan the ancient-city visit and the beach as two stops, with a real journey between them. Start from the Ephesus exit you will use and the Pamucak entrance you have selected; general distance descriptions are not door-to-door timings or pedestrian directions.
Leave room for a meal or break, changing, and the return to your accommodation. Adding Şirince as well creates another journey rather than a free extra stop. If the day already feels full, save the beach for another outing.
On a cruise visit or before an onward departure, work backwards from the required return time and your actual transport arrangements. There is no universal number of hours ashore that makes an Ephesus-and-beach combination suitable for every visitor.
Swimming and a visit with children
A sandy beach description does not establish today's depth, waves or swimming conditions. Do not choose a swimming spot solely because another guide calls the water shallow or suitable for non-swimmers. Follow current onsite warnings and restrictions.
For a family outing, decide where you will find shade, toilets and a place to change before settling on a section. Keep the option of a shorter beach visit or time on the sand if swimming conditions do not suit your group. A general destination page is not confirmation of lifeguard coverage at the spot you choose.
Accessibility: what the ramp report establishes
İzmir Municipality reported sea-entry ramp installations at several beaches, including Selçuk Pamucak, on 2 December 2025. That is a dated installation report, not confirmation of the ramp's present condition or exact location.
If access depends on it, establish the usable route from the arrival point to the beach, the current ramp and any necessary assistance. Check toilets and changing arrangements separately. The existence of a reported ramp does not establish a continuous step-free route across the whole visit.
Activities and overnight stays are separate plans
The district destination page mentions camping facilities and activities in the surrounding area. Those mentions do not establish a current booking, what an activity includes, or permission to use any part of the shore for it.
If you want an activity or overnight stay, choose the named operator or campsite and check its current arrangements. This guide has not established current rules for informal camping or fires; do not treat photographs, older travel accounts or a general tourism description as permission.
