Öküz Mehmet Pasha Caravanserai is a 1618 building near Kuşadası pier. Its high stone walls can make it look like a small fort, but it is not the castle on Pigeon Island. You can plan to see its exterior while exploring the harbour streets. If your visit depends on entering the courtyard, check current access before you go; the official descriptions do not give a reliable visitor timetable or admission rule.

Find the right building
Search the map for Öküz Mehmet Paşa Kervansarayı. The Culture Portal places it at Dağ, Atatürk Bulvarı, close to Kuşadası pier. The municipality also calls it Kurşunlu Han. These names refer to the same building.
Do not confuse it with the fortress on Güvercinada, also called Pigeon Island. Kaleiçi Mosque is another separate stop in the centre. A map search using only 'castle' can send you to the island instead of the caravanserai.
What the walls tell you
The municipality dates the building to 1618 and attributes it to Grand Vizier Öküz Mehmet Pasha. It says the structure was first built as a fort and later used as an inn. The tall enclosing walls help explain why it is easy to mistake for a fort at first glance.
The Culture Portal describes a rectangular courtyard, a two-storey arrangement and rooms around the open centre. It also identifies rubble and reused stone in the construction. From outside, look for the northern entrance and the heavy perimeter walls. Do not assume you can inspect the courtyard or upper level: the descriptions of the building are not today's access instructions.
Decide whether an exterior stop is enough
If you have little time in town, the exterior makes sense as a harbour-side history stop before you continue into Kaleiçi. It does not require you to gamble on an interior visit. A longer visit is worth planning only after you confirm which parts, if any, are open on your date.
A building can host events or other uses and still have restricted visitor entry. Neither official description establishes a current ticket price, opening hours, an event calendar or step-free access. Do not build a tight cruise-day schedule around any of those assumptions.

Fit it into a town visit
The pier, caravanserai and Kaleiçi belong to a centre-focused outing. Güvercinada is a separate extension; Ephesus is an out-of-town trip. Decide which one matters most before adding stops. We have not measured a walking time or tested an accessible route between them.
Coming from a ship? Save your ship's final boarding time and return instructions before leaving the terminal. If interior access is closed, you can still see the exterior and keep the rest of your centre visit intact.
